Marchers in protest of the kidnapping of Rajkumar, Mysore. In Bangalore, they were burning buses in the streets and beating taxi drivers who refused to stop working. Some people were killed. So, we were trapped in Mysore for a few days with no running trains, buses or taxis, waiting to see if things were going to explode if Veerapaan decided to waste Rajkumar. We were assured by a waiter in our hotel that if Rajkumar died, there was definitely going to be rampant killing in the streets of Mysore. Over a month later, weeks after I had returned to the States, Rajkumar was finally released. We were only trapped in Mysore for about 3 days, after which transportation services resumed, and it was actually a nice town, despite the circumstances.
