In Cochin, I saw Kathakali, a ritualized form of dance going back a few hundred years. It's performed to drumming and there's no speaking or singing - it's all hand gestures and eye movements. It was excellent. The dances are narratives revolving around Hindu mythology and they always end on a positive note, such as a triumph of good over evil. Here, the hero slays the villain (and gets the girl).
